Lemon Angel Project
ElementZero | September 19, 2008So I finished watching Lemon Angel Project last night. For some reason when I saw the first of this series I was rather fond of it, but as the series went on I was less and less thrilled. I think one of the main turn offs is the voice acting – specifically the main character. No matter how you look at it, you undoubtedly will get the impression that she was smashed in the nose with a hammer at some point.
The series introduction is about a group of girls who quickly became music stars and then suddenly vanished. You quickly learn that the reason they vanished is because they were just holograms created by a computer program, and a hacker deleted the program. The group of singers were called the Lemon Angel’s. The series then starts and it’s about a year later. The company that had produced the original Lemon Angel’s decide to make the “Lemon Angel Project”, in which they hold an American Idol type of audition in order to get 5 girls to become the Lemon Angel’s Act 2.
The main character, Tomo, was actually the best friend of the girl who created the original Lemon Angel computer program, Yui. Yui actually used Tomo as the “model” to create the main singer (named Ann) but then Yui got in a traffic accident and died at about the same time the Lemon Angel’s program was destroyed (smell something fishy? I do…
.
Anyways you can pretty much guess who is going to become the singers in the Lemon Angel Act 2 just based off how they focus on the characters – not to mention it shows who they all are in the Title opening. Speaking of which I really hate that you know? I mean I have seen many anime’s by now where they have some “mystery” into who is going to be the bad guy or who is going to become the hero or something like that, but when you show who it’s going to be RIGHT IN THE OPENING CREDITS, what kind of suspense is that? Some anime’s go a bit further into the process and do a new opening once plot twists are revealed (i.e. – Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann off the top of my head), I think those are the best.
Once last thing about Lemon Angel Project is that if you like American Idol – you might like this show. It’s really just about five girls rise to stardom and their “hopes and dreams”. It’s definitely a more Shoujo anime so if you like guns blazing or supernatural hero’s or just plain someone who kicks butt….this anime is not for you. My ratings…
Animation – 7
Voice Acting – 4 (Most of it is good, but hearing Tomo talk wants to make sure blow your nose)
Plot – 5
Overall – 5
